BEDFORD BOOMBOOM 7-a-Side CRICKET LEAGUE

Welcome to Bedford BoomBoom Cricket League. Zain Riasat, Tauheed Hussain and Waqaas Zaheer (with help from Father Jay MacLeod) put in a bid to Streetcred and got a grant from Bedford Borough Council to start the league. Players must be between the ages of 13 and 19. However, at the discretion of the organisers, a team with an average age under 16 may include an older ‘mentor’. Teams register online at www.boomboomcricket.co.uk, and match results will be posted there. Teams may include up to 10 players.

RULES
There will be zero tolerance of poor sportsmanship. After one warning, the umpire may deduct runs from the offending team’s score in the match being played and in the team’s next match. The aim is to have fun, so take it easy!

1)   Normal rules of cricket apply, including for wides and no balls.
2)   Each team will consist of seven playing members.
3)   Matches will be between 6 and 12 overs per side.
4)   No bowler may bowl more than 2 overs.
5)    Games consist of one inning each side with 6 balls an over.
6)    The coin toss for each game will occur before the start.
7)    The innings will conclude when either all the overs have been bowled or all seven batters have been dismissed.
8)    After scoring 35 runs a batter must retire. If, however, there are overs remaining after all other batters have been dismissed, the retired batter may return to finish his innings.
9)    The "last man standing" rule applies. At the fall of the 6th wicket, if more overs or balls are left, the batter dismissed shall act as runner with the remaining batsman. If the runner is dismissed in any way, such as a run-out, this will count as the last batsman being out, and the innings ends.
10)  Short-pitched balls above shoulder height and full tosses above the waist will be called no balls.
11)  Balls will be called wide under criteria of ‘playableness’. Hitting a wide ball disqualifies it from being a wide.

No cycles or food on the pitches, and please don’t tap your bat on the astroturf at the crease.
